This week was honestly a trial by fire type of week…hahahaha…but I loved it. We saw a bunch of crazy stuff. Our AC broke, and it's like 90 degrees outside and humid, we managed to get fleas, and then a bunch of other crap that doesn't need to be discussed… haha. Ok there's all the negative stuff out of the way, sorry.
On the positive side, I got to go on exchanges with Elder Hamby on Saturday! It was pretty fun. He goes home on Friday! We got to go to this super cool African family's house. They are from Rwanda and I loved those guys! They were so funny. We just taught the kids and there was like 6 of them. So funny. Haha they just wanted us to stay there forever and we were just having a ball they are always giggling and stuff.
We went and helped a man who is blind and deaf…and this time we got fleas! So we had to go get all the sprays and crap. It was awful. But they [animal control] caught 7-8 raccoons and 2 opossums and a couple of rabbits. That place is a zoo!
This week at a dinner, we were talking about one of the kids’ iPhones XR, and how it scans your eyes. The kids speak English, the parents don’t, and so Elder Owens goes "Oh, it has a rectal scanner!" And I about died. But no one else got it! He was trying to say retinal scanner, and so I had to explain to him afterwards that “rectal” has to deal with your rectum. It was a good talk. I love this guy!
In the scriptures, it talks a ton about a change in focus that happens as you apply the gospel. 1st you're ministered to, and then you minister to others. Way lit stuff! One thing I learned how to do well on my mission is to set a vision, goal, and plans. I think the new program that the Church has for the youth is way cool. Also, one thing I am excited about the future is to be able do Come Follow Me with [my family at home]. I haven't done it before, so I am super excited for that.
Honestly, that's about the week…Haha! I love you and am so thankful for all you do!
Elder Ogden
